Ear Candling
Ear candling or coning is an age-old folk remedy for cleansing the ear canal of built up wax and toxins. Candling originated in ancient Egypt, spread throughout Europe, Greece and China and is now practiced throughout the world. Hollow ear candles or cones are placed in the ear and the end is lit. As the candle burns, a gentle vacuum effect is created which pulls wax and built up toxins out of the ear into the candle. Candling is painless and actually very relaxing. Busy children even relax and enjoy candling.
Ear candling may improve the following conditions:
•
Ear aches
•
Swimmer’s ear
•
Hearing problems
•
Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
•
Sinus problems
•
Candida
•
Sore throats
•
Chronic headaches
•
Allergies
•
Vertigo
•
Tooth aches
Ear candling is easy to learn, but requires about an hour of dedicated time to accomplish. Ear candling can not be performed individually. An assistant or a practitioner is needed to monitor the flame on the candle and safely perform the procedure. Most people benefit from using 2 to 4 candles per ear. Ear candling should be performed as needed, but not more often than 3 times in 10 days with at least 48 hours in between sessions. Typically, maintenance sessions are recommended at least once every 6-12 months. Children can be candled as needed to help minimize risk of ear infections.
